Who We Are

Mission & History

Our Mission

The Training and Education Fund’s mission is to enhance the quality and care of services in the healthcare industry; support employees in achieving their career and personal development goals; and foster a stable, highly trained workforce to meet the needs of Pennsylvania's communities.  How we do it

Core Values

We are committed to:

Excellence. We think creatively and strive to give 100% value to those we serve, committing to continuous learning and exploring new, better, and creative ways to achieve our clients' visions.

Putting People First. We strive to create an environment of inclusivity, respect for individual differences, and an opportunity to connect.

Respect. We strive to build a relationship of mutual trust and respect. We earn trust by delivering on our commitments.

Empowerment. We encourage appropriate risk-taking to help those we serve feel stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one's life and claiming one's rights.

Engagement. We love what we do, and we're passionate about it. We engage fully with our students and our partners to meet their needs and objectives.

Racial & Social Justice. We know that no matter where we come from or what our color or sexual orientation, each and every one of us works hard to provide care and support our families. That is why we are determined to end discrimination in spaces like education, healthcare, and the service industries – spaces that have historically excluded, committed violence against, and attacked the rights of people of color and marginalized communities that largely make up the healthcare workforce.

We will stand up for health equity, access to education, and economic mobility in our communities and our workplaces. We will challenge ourselves and the broader healthcare community to take bold action, provide equity-based programming, and advocate to build a more just society.

Our Vision

To provide educational experiences for our healthcare heroes that are intellectually, socially, and personally transformative. We keep a keen eye on innovation and the needs of the industry to deliver programs that improve care and help workers reach their goals.

Our History

The Training and Education Fund, 501c3, is a non-profit, tax deductible organization founded in 2016 to develop creative and innovative training solutions aimed at improving access to quality healthcare for Pennsylvanians.

Our largest partner is The SEIU HCPA Training and Education Fund, 501c9, an employee benefit fund founded in 2006 as a partnership with nursing home employers and the Service Employees International Union, Healthcare Pennsylvania.  We're building on their decades of successful collaboration - working together, labor and management, to reach common goals of recruiting and retaining health caregivers.

In just a few short years, we have developed and delivered training for thousands of care workers employed in home care, skilled nursing facilities, and hospitals.  Our students have gained skills, credentials, and higher wages. At the same time, we have helped our clients save tens of thousands of dollars by reducing waste and improving efficiency.

And we're just getting started!
